Job Centre

We have worked with the job centre previously prior to the Olympics, however we still use them for our other events in recruiting staff and giving them an opportunity at working within the events industry.

At the moment, we are recruiting:

• Skilled engineers in the Coventry area
• Qualified drivers
• Event Stewards - we provide a training course for you to gain your qualification with guaranteed employment post qualification!
• SIA qualified security

STM maintains a robust approach to recruitment, training and development. The business has invested in employing an appropriately experienced Human Resources Manager (Lorraine Baillie), who is responsible for defining, implementing and maintaining STM’s HR policies and practices.

Below are the procedures that STM always follows

STM will host a recruitment days with Job Centre Plus, where large numbers of prospective candidates can be interviewed in the same location and on the same day. STM recognises how communities can be positively affected by large events, and we have a policy of employing local people. Local people add value to STM’s service, given their inherent local knowledge, an important aspect of our Stewards’ skills.

Following the recruitment event, we will then assess the candidates and decide to whom we want to offer employment. Following the offer of employment, we invite staff to an induction day, where they will be appraised of the forthcoming event in more detail and provided with induction training, plus to provide them with the details regarding the NVQ Level 2 in Event Stewarding training, that all STM staff must hold as a minimum requirement, prior to the event. The NVQ training is provided over two weeks and is delivered locally to the STM staff.

We are committed to the training and development of our entire workforce to ensure they will gain the necessary skills to reach their full potential. This will assist in enabling us to achieve our aims and objectives to be a comprehensive service provider through a well-trained and motivated team.
